With "stay-at-home" orders in every state, many of us are working remotely from home or from a different location. This transition is a challenge but can have great benefits. One of the challenges from working-from-home is the many distractions either from family members running around or pets requiring more attention.
Here are four ways to make working-from-home a success for you, your family, and your coworkers.
1. In order to stay focused you have to know how to manage your time. Use tracker tools such as Toggl that will help you stay on track. Also, stay off social media while working as this can be a huge waste of your productive time.
2. Make sure your workspace is created just for that to work and not sleep or play. If you need to create a workspace in your bedroom than create dividers to separate the spaces. This will help you stay more focused on work. Also, make sure there is little noise and distractions that will keep you from working. The best way to set up your desk is facing a wall and away from windows so that you won't have any visual or sound distractions.
3. It is ok to take breaks even if you work remotely but manage your time more efficiently. Create a schedule and jot down your break times, start time, meeting times, production/operations time and end-of-day time. When you visually have this before you, you will be more productive and stay focused on the tasks.
4. Communicate...communicate...communicate! Stay in touch and connected with your coworkers and supervisors. This helps everyone be on the same page and be effective in your work projects.
